About us

We rehearse every Monday evening from 7.30pm to 10.00pm upstairs in St Etheldreda’s Church close to Putney Bridge Station. As with most brass bands, we play a variety of music each week — some music will be used as a one-off to improve sight-reading, others will be played regularly in preparation for upcoming concerts, recordings or contests.

The full address of the band room is:

St Etheldreda’s Church
528 Fulham Palace Rd
London
SW6 6JF

We’re a 10-15 minute walk from Putney Bridge tube station (or a short bus ride).

Musical Director – John Ward

WARD (2)John Ward’s musical background is within The Salvation Army, which encouraged his early development. He developed an interest in conducting in this late teens and has since benefited hugely through mentorship from both Allan Withington and Ray Farr.
Since starting work with contesting bands, John has built a reputation for developing bands, be it in either a resident or ‘professional’ role. His contesting record reveals consistent success, with a large number of prize-winning performances to his credit.
John was shortlisted for the Assistant Directorship of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and has undertaken work with several of the UK’s very finest bands.
Away from contest performances, he has conducted recording projects with Reg Vardy, Leyland and Co-operative Funeralcare Bands and worked with renowned soloists including Roger Webster, David Childs and Owen Farr.
