MD

The Musical Director of a brass band provides the musical leadership to help players realise their individual and group potential. The MD is responsible for all musical elements of the band including: choosing what music to play, allocating players to positions, conducting rehearsals and presenting the band at concerts and contests.

Our current Musical Director is Simon Jones who joined the band in January 2008.

Simon is originally from a small town close to Manchester that has a strong brass band heritage. He started to learn tenor horn at the age of 13 with his local town band and went on to study for a band musicianship degree at Salford University – graduating in 1999.

Simon  Since moving to London in 2004, Simon has maintained a demanding banding schedule – being Musical Director of Enfield Brass, Royston Town and Stonesfield Silver Bands and also finding time to continue to play (most recently with the current area and Butlins Champions – Redbridge Brass). Simon has depped with some of the best known bands in UK and has enjoyed being part of band tours across Europe, America, Canada, Dubai and the Far East.

Simon works as Business Consultant in Central London.
