Skegness and First Section… here we go!

logo_butlins3 This weekend we head up North to the 2015 Butlins Mineworkers Festival in Skegness for a weekend of competition, good playing and catching up with old friends!

This time is particularly exciting for Fulham as it is our debut contest in the First Section where we will be competing on Saturday against a strong line up of 19 bands from around the country and even further afield for the top prize of £2,000.

If you happen to be in Skegness Butlins this weekend then please do pop by Reds from 10:00am as we will be performing Mike Kilmartin’s beautiful arrangement of Andrew Boyson’s ‘Three Folk Song Settings for Band’, featuring a mixture of haunting traditional folk melodies and fast paced rhythms; testing the bands on dynamic variations, tuning and rhythmic ability with lots of solos and important passages floating around the players.

Fulham are delighted to be back in Skegness this weekend and have enjoyed the challenge of our 1st Section debut. Please follow our Facebook and Twitter pages for live updates on the day, and if you miss our performance then we hope to see you in the bar afterwards!!

VACANCIES: We are seeking a strong Bass player (position negotiable and instrument available!), Front Row Cornet, Euphonium and Soprano player to add to our existing line up post Butlins. We welcome students, workers or anyone within the area who wish to be part of a hardworking, fun and ambitious band with lots of exciting projects in the pipeline building on our successes from 2014. Please get in touch with Matt Pitt (band manager) in confidence on enquiries@fulhambrassband.co.uk if you fancy joining the Fulham Brass Band family.
