New Flugelhorn signing!

Fulham BrEmmeline fulhamass Band are delighted to announce the signing of Emmeline Downer to the Flugelhorn chair. Emmeline is 19 and grew up in Cornwall; having started out playing cornet in St. Austell Youth Band aged 10, she worked her way up to principal flugelhorn in the Cornwall Youth Brass Band. She has since moved to London to study Classics at King’s College London and the band are excited to welcome a talented and enthusiastic member to the team!

A special thank you needs to go out to Simon Gale who recently left the band after playing flugelhorn for 8 years due to other commitments. The band are very sad to see him go after many years of service and look forward to staying in touch with him.

Under the baton of John Ward, the band are currently working hard  for the prestigious trip to Cheltenham in September, to represent London and the Southern Counties at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain. The Second Section piece is called Traversada by Oliver Warspi, which is a haunting and technically detailed work that the band are embracing with determination throughout the busy summer months.

You can join the band too! We are seeking a strong Solo Baritone and Front Row Cornet (third man down)  to add to our existing line up from October– with promotion to the FIRST Section from Jan 2015! We welcome students, workers or anyone within the area who wish to be part of a hardworking, fun and ambitious band with lots of exciting projects in the pipeline.  Please get in touch with Matt Pitt (band manager) in confidence on enquiries@fulhambrassband.co.uk if you fancy joining the Fulham Brass Band family!
