Fulham Brass Band members bid a fond farewell to thier soprano player, Simon Dawson, who leaves the band due to a relocation to Essex. Simon is a gifted musician and was a member of the band for a number of years – leading the cornet section, engaging in band management duties and even picking up the stick now and again.
His final rehearsal was marked with the band playing some of Simon’s favourite music and own arrangements: Strauss – Feierlicher, Elgar – Imperial March, Gregson – Plantagenets and Finale from Faust.
The band secretary, William Mellor gave a farewell speech at the half time break and the players said their own farewells over drinks at the British Legion bar after band practice. Fulham Brass Band wish Simon the very best for the future.
